Robyn Francis, permaculture educator & early adoptor
One of permaculture's early adoptors, Robyn Francis has been active in permaculture design and education from the early days of the practice. In the mid-1980s she set up the first Permaculture Sydney and brought 'Permaculture' magazine from Terry White in Victoria to NSW, where it would transmute into 'Permaculture International Journal'. Later, she took the magazine to Northern NSW where she eventually handed over editorship to Steve Payne. Robyn went on to set up her own permaculture training centre at Nimbin - Djanbung Gardens - and, with town planner, Peter Cummings, designed Nimbin's Jalanbah Ecovillage. She was active in establishing accredited permaculture training. Robyn continues to offer a variety of permaculture-related courses and workshops at Djanbung Gardens, including the Permaulture Design Certificate and accredited, certificate-level permaculture training.
