Plone Open Source CMS Used for New PIL Website
Permaculture International Limited has chose Plone open source Content Management System software for the creation of its new website.
Plone software creates leading CMS (content management system) web sites that help communities manage their knowledge assets and work together to achieve their aims and objectives.
Content Management System web sites allow community participation in the creation of the web site content- anyone (who is a member of PIL) anywhere in the world can log on to the web site using a web browser and upload articles, photos, events, course announcements, news items and global directory items. This means you could sit at an internet cafe in Argentina, open up an Internet Explorer or Safari web browser, log onto the site and upload pictures of the straw bale food storage shed you built that day. Shortly after that not only PIL members, but the whole world can look at your project on the PIL website.
It also gives members an area on the web site server where they can store and share content they are working on with other members. PIL members now get the added benefit of being able to log into the web site where they get their own folder. They can upload photos, text documents and other content, submitt it for publishing on the site or share the content with other members to collaborate on a permaculture article or other type of content.
Plone has many layers of functionality which ensure that no matter how large the PIL membership grows our new Plone CMS site can grow with them.
