Grains and Grasses workshop with Nick Romanowski

Nick Romanowski is widely known for his many books on wetlands and aquaculture, and also books and articles on diverse plant groups with an emphasis on edible species, including regular features for the ABC’s The Organic Gardener magazine. He and his wife Jan Ratcliff have also established orchards of nearly 400 fruit and nut trees on their property in the Otway Ranges of southern Victoria. Over the past twelve years Nick has been researching and taking photos for a practical guide to all the grains (and many other grasses) grown worldwide, from cool areas with a short growing season to the tropics. This workshop will emphasise the grains, bamboos and other seed crops suited to south-eastern Australia, including growing, harvesting, storing and processing on a small scale, whether for personal use or livestock.

Permaculture Design Course

13 day intensive non residential Design Course. Content covers the cirriculum outlined in Bill Mollisons 'A Designers Manual'with particular emphasis on working strategies for the temperate regions of South Eastern Australia. Its delivered by trainers qualified in Creative Facilitation and presented with a mixture of theory, hands-on exercises, group participation and site visists to 6 different properties. Skills learnt will enable participants to use design techniques for their own place, work as a designer for others as well as itegegrate permaculture into their community.

An Introduction to Permaculture

This weekend course will provide a taste of what permaculture is all about. The venue is Brogo Permaculture Gardens on the South Coast of NSW which has been in development for 16 years and becomes the living classroom of how permaculture's principles were applied. Food gardens; orchards with animals; house design; shelterbelts and water harvesting are all on display as working models.
